The GG's are the main playable cast of characters in Jet Set Radio Future, and the protagonists of the Jet Set Radio series. Like their previous incarnation, their base of operations is the garage and their home turf is in the Shibuya District of Tokyo, near Dogenzaka Hill and Shibuya Terminal. In this game, there is a total of 14 members.

Story[]

Unlike in Jet Set Radio, where the formation of the GG's is shown, the GG's are already established in Jet Set Radio Future. Described as a "loose team with 'no motto'", the gang starts out with four members, Corn, Gum, Pots, and Roboy. Yoyo finds himself in the gang's base and quickly joins afterwards. During the story, the GG's go up against the oppressive Rokkaku Group and its various forces commanded by their leader, Gouji Rokkaku and other rival gangs occupying the streets of Tokyo: Poison Jam, Rapid 99, the Immortals, the Love Shockers, the Doom Riders, and the Noise Tanks. The GG's eventually take down every rival gang and the forces from the Rokkaku Group and defeat Gouji, stopping his "Rokkaku Expo" plans.

Relationship with DJ Professor K[]

In this game, DJ Professor K is much more involved with the GG's during the events of the story. As he decides to help them out throughout all the stuff that goes down in Tokyo's massive turf war. His bias towards the gang is never explained, but it can only be assumed that he helps them out as they are the only gang to actively do anything against Gouji and his pawns from the Rokkaku Group. In return, the GG's are shown to be worried near the end of the game when DJ K gets kidnapped and proceed to go out their way to rescue him.

While not explained in game, the interview of DJ Professor K in the sixth issue of the Play US magazine, reveals his bias towards the GG's. He claims that they are the baddest gang of Tokyo because "They kick the Rokkaku clowns in the pants". He also says anyone who is not with the GG's are also the wimpiest in the city, and states everyone in the gang is cool too.[1]

In Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, six members of the GG's appear in the game. Only Beat appears as a playable character, as Garam, Boogie, Rhyth, Cube, and Pots make cameo appearances via static models in the Rokkaku Hill race track in the shopping area of the track. Their JSR counterparts are mentioned in Beat's biography for the game.

Trivia[]

  • The GG's are referred to as Team GG in Corn's profile in the manual of the game. This is the only time the gang is ever referred to with the "team" moniker as in-game they are consistently called "the GG's".[6]
  • In the JSRF manual, it is explained that the way the GG's catch the police and DJ Professor K radio signals broadcast is via the Wrist Radio they are wearing.[7]
    • Although the manual implies all the members of the GG's are wearing one, the only ones who are shown to not wear a wrist radio are Corn, Soda, Cube, and Jazz. Additionally, neither do Pots and Roboy sport one either.
  • According to Hideki Naganuma, GG's stands for "Grace & Glory", the same name as the music track that plays in last stages and final missions of both games. Although, the developer team themselves were not aware of it.[8]
    • However, this might have been him doing a wordplay joke with "GGs" and "Grace & Glory"
  • While the GG's do not have any graffiti piece that represents the gang as a whole between JSR and JSRF, in the garage there is a small "GG" tag that appears on a small billboard that says "Girls be Ambitious!". This small tag only appears in the garage and cannot be collected, but it should be possible to recreate it in the custom graffiti editor.
  • Out of the returning members of the GG's from the previous entry, the only ones to not have any appearances in crossover material are Corn, Combo, and Soda. Whereas their JSR iterations have. In contrast, both Cube and Pots have made cameo appearances in their JSRF attires, while their JSR attires have yet to do so.
    • Additionally, Jazz, Clutch and Roboy have yet to make crossover appearances as well. In comparison, 9 out of the 11 GG's from JSR have made outside appearances from their home game while only a little over half (8/14) of the GG's from JSRF have made outside appearances from their original title.
