Shibuya-cho (渋谷町 Shibuya-chō?, lit. Shibuya Town) is a district of Tokyo-to that appears in Jet Set Radio. It is a crowded district of the city that is the home turf of the GG's, and contains entertainment and stores that many citizens attend to. Shibuya-cho is also referred to as "the city of daylight", as revealed by DJ Professor K. Additionally, the GG's hideout, the garage, is also located in the district.[2] The district is based on the real ward of the same name.

Official descriptions[]

Jet Grind Radio: Sybex's Official Strategies & Secrets[]

  • The tag kings of Shibuya-cho, the GG's, have recently been derailed by an unknown group of Rudies. All the GG tags in Shibuya-cho have been covered up with the new graffiti; they don't know who's behind it all. Is it Poison Jam, the Kogane Rudies who hide their faces behind strange masks? Or is it the Noise Tanks, the gang of hi-tech Rudies that rules the night town of Benten-cho? It's up to you to find out.[3]

Hi-sCoool! SeHa Girls[]

  • The opening stage in Jet Set Radio and home base to the protagonist gang, the GGs. One of the towns in the mysterious (?!) Asian metropolis of Tokyo-to, along with others such as Kogane-cho and Benten-cho. It's unrelated to the town of greed, but excessively tanned girls and delinquents roam the streets.[note 1]

Overview[]

Shibuya-cho consists of three major areas and two intersecting pathways. The three major areas are the bus terminal, Park Street and Center Street. The sewage pipe and Shibuya Scramble Crossing hold as ways that connects all three locations in the district. According to the manuals for the game, the GG's hideout, the garage, is located in the backstreets of central Shibuya-cho.[2]

Story[]

Located in south and described as "the city of daylight", Shibuya-cho serves as the GG's home turf. Because the garage, the GG's headquarters, is located in the backstreets of Shibuya and is considered the coolest place to be, the GG's end up being invaded and challenged by numerous rival Rudie gangs throughout the city, with the local Love Shockers being Shibuya's most prominent rival Rudie gang in their proximity. The GG's go out their way to defend their turf, to which they succeed. After the defeat of the Love Shockers, Shibuya-cho is attacked by the Golden Rhinos, who fill the district with explosives in all three parts of the location, but are ultimately put to a stop by the GG's.
