Sega Heroes was a free-to-play mobile game developed by Demiurge Studios and published by Sega for Android and iOS. Service for the game lasted from November 14, 2018 to May 2020, when Demiurge Studios separated from Sega and went on to become an independent developer.

Just like the Sega All-Stars series, Sega Heroes features content from various Sega IPs including the Jet Set Radio series.

Gameplay

The gameplay for Sega Heroes, was a tile-matching game, match 3 specifically. While tile-matching, characters would perform actions if they were matched. There were four colors to match, along with a purple boost multiplier. If six tiles of the same color was matched, a star tile would appear. If six star tiles were matched together another star tile would appear and explode, activating a different ability. If a character got a "MAX" ability, their special move would activate.

Trivia

• Two of Beat's abilities are references to his graffiti pieces in Jet Set Radio.
• Just like Beat, two of Gum's abilities are also references to her graffiti pieces in Jet Set Radio.
• One of the abilities DJ Professor K can perform is called "Funky Radio" a reference to the song composed by B.B. Rights.
• The concept of Sega Heroes seemingly comes from a cancelled mobile RPG called Sega Blast Heroes.
