Characters[]

Francis, Luka, Janice[]

  • Initially in Ollie King's development there were three playable characters who went by the names of Francis, Luka, and Janice. These three were showcased off at the 2003 Tokyo Jamma show before being replaced by the current cast of characters.[1] Sega themselves would post concept art of them on their Sega Amusement Facebook page.

Female London Gang member[]

  • As stated above in the audio section, there seemed to be plans to give the London Gang a female member during the development of Ollie King. This planned character would be dropped in favor for another male member making the gang an all-male gang similar to that of the San Francisco Gang. Making only the Kyoto Gang to feature a female member in its cast.

Gameplay[]

Mechanics[]

  • In the files of Ollie King there is textures relating to attacking opponents and even a blood texture indicating damage that would be on the opponent and the player character. This mechanic would even be mentioned in a "How to Play" video screen where it directly says the player should attack their rival if they are next to the attack sign.
  • Also confirmed in the files, the wallride move was going to be implemented in the game. There is left over text showcasing the move's name being displayed like how the rest of the tricks are in-game and even a voice clip from the announcer saying the trick name. In the final game no stage has any structure were wall riding is necessary.

Text[]

  • In the game's files, there is left over development text for a "Collison Text" map that does not have any data left in the game itself.
  • In Ollie King's files, there is a line of text that says "smilebit.txb", which is the file name for the attract mode of the game. This line confirms that Smilebit's name was going to be used initially before being switched over to Amusement Vision.
