The Love Shockers (ラブショッカーズ Rabu Shokkāzu?) are a rival gang in Jet Set Radio Future. Their home turf is Hikage Street. Unlike in Jet Set Radio where the Love Shockers were revealed as mysterious newcomers that kickoff the story, the gang is already established as one of the many teams fighting in the streets of Tokyo. Although this time around, their involvement in the plot is more minimal.

The Love Shockers are a Quick-2 type character. Her stats are the same as the Immortals, which means she excels in speed more than anything else, but suffers when it comes to her stamina stats as they are the worst in the game.

Overview[]

Appearance[]

The Love Shockers design shares a lot of elements from the design with their Jet Set Radio counterpart, but still are distinctly different. They wear a crop top with a cleavage window. It has a crack pattern in the middle, which splits the top in two parts, one part being desaturated blue and another being magenta. Back of the top features their insignia "死愛" (shi ai/dead love). Leggings follow the same pattern and color theme, albeit reversed, and with magenta part having a line and blue having a blue broken heart drawing. Their skates are long, white and with blue colored thunder-like markings.

The Love Shockers' accessories include a heart shaped eyepatch and a yellow scarf with gray stripes. Their hair is light pink and is in a side ponytail with long bangs. The Love Shockers are also seen wearing makeup consisting of light violet lipstick and eyeliner. Other accessories include long gloves, with the matching color scheme of the crop top. The top of the gloves has the same cracked pattern, with having the very end of them colored in reverse. They are wearing three black bracelets on each of their arm.

Personality[]

The Love Shockers are a "loveable" team of psychos who are considered to be heart attacks on skates, as described by DJ Professor K.[1] The reason for why the Love Shockers are so psychotic is due to their heartbreak, as they preach a message of "love and death". They showcase this so-called "message" during their Death Ball match and rematch in chapter 7 or 9, taunting the GG's with threats and telling them to die. In their Death Ball round, the Love Shockers seemingly give a little bit context on what potentially caused their heartbreak, stating how girls do not like clingy guys.

Role in Jet Set Radio Future[]

In Jet Set Radio Future, the Love Shockers are first mentioned in chapter 4, as DJ Professor K notes that they "were mixing it up" with the Immortals on Hikage Street, their home turf. They physically appear in chapter 5 as part of the Death Ball tournament, hosted by the Noise Tanks, at the Tokyo Rokkaku Expo Stadium in the third round. Like the Doom Riders and the Immortals, the Love Shockers will speak to the GG's during the first couple moments of the round taunting and insulting them, along with telling them to "die". The GG's almost end up winning against them, but only to have the Rokkaku Police enforcement barge into the stadium, thus halting the round and sending everyone into panic, supposedly making the Love Shockers run off to their turf, Hikage Street.

Anytime during or after the pursuit of Clutch in chapter 7, the player can go back to Hikage Street, which activates a flag battle. This flag battle is entirely optional and is not downright required to be won in order to unlock the gang as long as the player has completed and collected all the Street Challenges and Graffiti Souls prior to proceeding to chapter 5. Just like with the Doom Riders and Immortals, the player can in fact do this mission with the Love Shocker herself in chapter 9 if they decide to do Hikage Street's Test Runs first before heading back to the area in the post-game.

Unlocking[]

As mentioned above, if the player wants to unlock the Love Shocker and play as her, they must complete the Street Challenges and collect all the Graffiti Souls in Hikage Street. Afterwards, the player must earn a Jet ranking on all of the Test Runs for Hikage Street.

  • Noise Tanks - The Love Shockers were one of the gangs forced to compete in their Death Ball tournament, however, since their match got interrupted they escaped from becoming one of their disciples.

Trivia[]

  • It seems that the Love Shockers model was based on Boogie's model, since they have the same face shape, and their textures are done in a similarly unique way.
  • Unlike most of the characters from Jet Set Radio Future who cameo in the Rokkaku Hill track, the Love Shockers actually appear with a active model in Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, instead of appearing via a static render. The same also applies to the Rokkaku Police and the Fortified Residential Zone citizens.
  • The Love Shockers are one of the few characters to have an alternate icon that appears in the multiplayer mode for the game, along with Gum, Garam, NT-3000, and Gouji.
  • Like the other post-game characters, the Love Shockers were planned to appear in the garage. She would have been located near the entrance to 99th Street alongside with NT-3000.[4]
    • If the player talks to her, they will see that her talking animation is the same as Boogie's.
