London (ロンドン Rondon?) is one of the three playable stages in Ollie King. The course is best known for the abundance of jump ramps and grind rails throughout. The expert mode layout is the polar opposite, as jump points are scarce. It is the home track for Team UK.

Overview[]

The London stage in Ollie King is set at night, taking place near Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly Circus, and the Houses of Parliament. Like all the courses in Ollie King, it is a downhill track. In the Kids/Normal Mode layout, the jump is littered with strange jump ramps. Eventually players will have to race through a subway having to perform a string of tricks to successfully make it through. The Expert Mode layout changes things up by having players face a jumping platform at the start which leads into a steep incline and eventually will have to deal with the sharp turns of the London Underground. In the higher sections of the track, the player's goal is to aim for "big air" to perform tricks, but jump points are sparse, making little room for error.

Development[]

In the developer interview for Ollie King, Masayoshi Yokoyama mentioned wanting to have a stage set in Europe and eventually picked London as the European stage. Masayoshi Kikuchi would state that London was chosen as the European location due to it having a "cool image" and skateboarding being a popular sport in the city.[1] The song that plays in the London stage is "Let It Go" by Hideki Naganuma. In the Ollie King soundtrack commentary he described the song as something he imagined would be played in a London Club due to the stage being set at night.

Ollie King Owner's Manual[]

Kids/Normal Mode[]

  • Littered with strangely shaped jump ramps, this course requires considerable skill in executing Jump Tricks. In the subway, obstacles have been set up to enable a string of tricks in the following sequence: Jump ramp → Grind rail → Jump ramp. The trick in conquering this stage is to control the high-speed course as much as possible. Additionally, this stage has the largest number of grind rails out of all the courses.[3]

Expert Mode[]

  • Immediately after starting, the Player faces a jumping platform leading to a steep, fast incline. After accelerating down the hill, next comes the sharp turns of the London Underground. More than half of the stage is split into upper and lower sections. The course is designed to the player to aim for "big air" in the upper sections. Because jump points are sparse, there is very little margin for error. Each jump and grind must be executed with careful consideration in order to get through this stage.[3]
