"Grace & Glory", titled as "Grace and Glory" on digital releases, is a song composed by Hideki Naganuma. The song only plays in the Final Groove mission of Jet Set Radio, taking place at the Rokkaku Headquarters. A part of it would be included in "Jet Set Medley". It can also serve as the main theme of Goji Rokkaku.

In Jet Set Radio Future, the song would be remixed by B.B. Rights and Mic Harrison, although B.B. Rights would only be mentioned on the in game music player. Similar to their other remixes, most of the lyrics were removed. The remix of "Grace & Glory" is played when the player has to chase down two Zero Beats in a match of Tagger's Tag and again when they get transported to Gouji's tower and fight against A.KU.MU.

"Grace & Glory" would also be used in the Pachislot Jet Set Radio machine, appearing under the name "Bonus 777", along with three other songs by Naganuma. "Grace & Glory" would also get a small remix by Richard Jacques for Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, serving as the All-Star Move theme for Beat.

The song appears in the following albums: Jet Set CD, Jet Set Radio Original Sound Tracks, Jet Set Radio Future Original Sound Tracks, Jet Set Radio: Original Soundtrack with Bonus Tracks from JSRF, Jet Set Radio SEGA Original Tracks, Jet Set Radio Future SEGA Original Tracks, and Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed Original Soundtrack.

For the last album, it appears under the name "All-Star Move: Beat".

Trivia[]

  • "Grace & Glory" is a minor key song.[1]
  • According to Naganuma, "the GGs" stands for "Grace & Glory", and claimed that not even the JSR team knew about it.[2][3]
    • Although this could be a simple wordplay joke between "GG" and "Grace & Glory".
  • In a reply to a fan in 2019, Naganuma would mention "Grace & Glory" being the most experimental song of his career.[4]
  • According to Naganuma, "Grace & Glory" is the "Devil's Contract".[5]
  • Similar to "Humming the Bassline", the idea for "Grace & Glory" happened when Naganuma heard the classical female vocal that is present throughout the song.[6]
  • There are two versions of the original mix of "Grace & Glory", the soundtrack version and the "Game Version" that is present on the Jet Set CD disc. The "Game Version" of "Grace & Glory" sounds like an analog recording being played in the intro with some vinyl noises being added.[7]
  • Just like "Rock It On" and "Moody's Shuffle", "Grace & Glory" would be one of the three songs by Naganuma to not get a rearrangement by Manfred Linzner for the Game Boy Advance version of Jet Set Radio.
  • The "obstruuuuuct" sample used in "Grace & Glory" would also be reused in "Wrapped in Black" from Sonic Rush.
