Gouji Rokkaku (六角ゴウジ Rokkaku Gouji?) is the main villain of Jet Set Radio Future. He is the head of the Rokkaku Group and the Golden Rhinos and is behind the creation of the Noise Tanks, NT-3000, and Zero Beat. He aims to make Tokyo into his personal metropolis with his project known as the "Rokkaku Expo". He also has sights on taking over the world as well.
Gouji is a Power-2 type character. His stats are similar to Combo and Poison Jam's, but his stamina stats are maxed out and most of his other categories are above average, but he falls behind when it comes to cornering.
Overview[]
Appearance[]
Gouji's appearance is very similar to his Jet Set Radio counterpart, wearing a black suit with a white scarf. However some notable differences are his beard, which is now spiky, him wearing a necklace which supports his company's logo, gold-tinted sunglasses, and black shoes. Just like his JSR counterpart, when playing as him his skates have spikes at the front of the outsole. However, the similarities end there as they feature a black and red design with blue-gray wheels. On his skates is a shark-like face with red sharp teeth being present on the side, which is unlike counterpart's rhino-based skates.
Personality[]
Also like his Jet Set Radio counterpart, Gouji is money and power hungry. However, unlike his counterpart, he has had further success as he managed to buy out Tokyo's police force and eventually became the mayor of the city. He can also be seen as egotistical as the Rokkaku logo is featured throughout the city of Tokyo. Gouji's sanity begins to crack by the end of the game as during the final fight he claims that the world "belongs" to him and simply laughs while his tower explodes showing no sign of fear during his current predicament.
Ryuta Ueda himself would further explain that despite the power and wealth at his disposal Gouji envies the citizen's "freedom and various forms of self expression", which results in him attempting to take over the city in response but failing in the end.[1] Ueda would also comment that despite being a millionaire, he still feels lonely and disconnected from society, and wants to possess "something", which is what the Rudies already have. This is even hinted at in his profile from the JSRF website.[2][3]
Role in Jet Set Radio Future[]
Along with owning the Tokyo police department and the Golden Rhinos, Gouji's corporation is also the creator of the Noise Tanks, NT-3000, and Zero Beat. Which showcases his governmental control and wealth in Tokyo. Additionally, Gouji owns Rokkaku-dai Heights and the Tokyo Rokkaku Expo Stadium, and is trying to kickstart the "Rokkaku Expo", which he briefly succeeds at doing.
After suffering substantial setbacks at the hands of the GG's, he builds a massive, dark energy emitting tower in Shibuya Terminal, where he transforms himself into A.KU.MU. After defeating his transformed state, he reverts back to normal and laughs maniacally as his tower explodes in the process.
Unlocking[]
Gouji is unlocked as a playable character by obtaining Jet ranks on all Test Runs in Rokkaku-dai Heights, which can only be unlocked after finishing the Street Challenges and collecting all Graffiti Souls in the location.

Trivia[]
- The 1941 film, Citizen Kane influenced Gouji's character for Jet Set Radio Future.[2]
- Gouji is voiced by Charles Martinet, who is famous for voicing Nintendo's mascots, in the Mario Bros. series and Paarthurnax in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
- He has the same introductory/victory dance as Clutch.
- His idle dance is similar to the one his counterpart performs in Jet Set Radio.
- Gouji has an unused line that was meant for the intro of the A.KU.MU fight, possibly after he transformed into the robotic-demon.[4]
- Although Gouji and A.KU.MU are shown to have the same stats directly, they actually differ in stamina. In the game's code Gouji's stamina amount caps off at 180%, which is the same as Roboy and the Noise Tanks, while A.KU.MU is at the maximum amount at 220%. There is not explanation on why their stamina differs from each other this much, but it could have been an oversight the developers forgot to get to before release.[9]
- Rokkaku cameos in another Sega game, Yakuza, as part the substory "Crisis on the Crapper". Rokkaku is hit with a stomach ache on the way to a meeting and is forced to use a public toilet only to run out of paper. The game's protagonist, Kazuma Kiryu, provides him with a number of pocket tissues, and after Rokkaku's stomach ache is done with, he hands Kiryu his business card and a Stone of Enduring. Examining the card will indeed reveal the man's identity as "Gouji Rokkaku." He appears considerably more overweight and shaven in Yakuza than he does in Jet Set Radio Future.
- Due to this, both Masayoshi Kikuchi and Ryuta Ueda joked that Jet Set Radio Future and Yakuza are in the same universe.[10]
- Gouji is one of the few characters to have an alternate icon that appears in the multiplayer mode for the game, along with Gum, Garam, the Love Shockers, and NT-3000.
- Like the other post-game characters, Gouji was planned to appear in the garage. He would have been located on top of one of the halfpipe platforms with A.KU.MU being across from him on the other side.[11]
- If the player talks to Gouji, they will see that he continues to do his idle dance, similar to other characters like Clutch and Roboy.
